Is wild camping safe for single women?
« on: April 08, 2010, 12:00:37 PM »
Hi,

I am currently planning my first bike-touring trip and will be traveling solo along the west coast.  I'm not familiar with this part of the country and this will be my first time camping alone.  Does anyone know if wild camping is feasible in most areas of the west coast?  Also, do you know if it is safe for single women to camp alone in the wild, as long I exercise reasonable caution? Thank you for your input.

Hi Crystal,
I gave an answer to your question already in Getting started.
I am thinking of writing an article on wild camping soon.

Peter,

Thanks so much for your reply.  I am impressed by the number and variety of places you have camped.  I'll have to keep in mind that there a lot of options out there besides camping in nature....
