I am a second year University student studying at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. I really feel as though I'd like a break from my 4 year program to go out and live, like really gain some real life experience. I am planning a 3 month long self supported cycling tour of Australia and New Zealand. My current plan is to take the fall semester off (September to December) and be back for Christmas. This is one of the best times to visit Australia since it is spring and will not be unbearingly hot in the desert and should be a very comfortable temperature and climate in the mountains and coastal regions. Having cycling across Canada in the summer of 2008, I am fairly experienced in long distance cycling touring. My proposed route begins in Perth and ends in Brisbane, following the southern shore. Depending on how much time remains, a short two or three week tour of New Zealand could be in order.
I'm not a huge fan of solo bicycle touring, especially on such a long trip (6000km) and am therefore looking for a cycling partner with an awesome sense of adventure.
